doubly-peaked distribution

A probability distribution which is characterized by the fact that the probability curve has two local maxima, corresponding to two values of the modes (cf. Mode). Such a distribution is often the result of "mixing" two normal distributions (cf. Normal distribution). See also Multimodal distribution; Unimodal distribution.
