# Point of cessation

From Encyclopedia of Mathematics

A singular point on a plane curve at which the curve ends. A circle of sufficiently small radius and with centre at a point of cessation intersects the curve at only one point. E.g. for the curve $y=x\ln x$ the origin is the point of cessation (see Fig.).
